All DVD recorder manufacturers have a certified media list posted either in the operating manual or on their website. DVD media varies from manufacturer to manufacturer. The coatings and sensitivity of light are the primary reason not all brands of media will work with a particular recorder. It is also true that even if you can burn the disc you may not be able to play it in another player of that brand or any brand of player.
