Why doesn't an 89 Chevy Celebrity 2.8 multi port fuel injection distributorless engine have spark after replacing the modulator plugs and wires?

had the same problem, check the coilpacks located in front of the engine, take wires off and crank it over if no spark there then its probably the control module that the coil packs are mounted to, very common in 2.8's. p.s. check fuses too, could be that simple
I had a very similar problem on a 1988 Celebrity 2.8 with no spark. I replaced the crankshaft position sensor and it started right up. The sensor is very inexpensive, about $15 three years ago (1985). The sensor is located just below the exhaust manifold on the engine block, between the engine and firewall. It is held in by one bolt and a electrical connector goes to the sensor.

The modulator valve is located on the LH side of the tranny and has a vacuum line going to. After replacing you have to set the modulator pressure by connecting a gauge to the tranny, removing the cover from the modulator valve and turning adjustment bar underneath. With out pictures its hard to show how the gauge is connected. To be quite honest if you really have done the tests required to diagnose the modulator than setting the pressure should be the easy. To be very simple, there is no cable linking the injection/carburator , your gas pedal is control electronically thus replacing the cable usually linking the injection throttle, (e-throttle)

may be your vacuum modulator on your transmission or could be a straight up bad transmission. i ended up replacing mine for that same reason

most likely the modulator on the tranny not shure of the spesifics on a 89 but its a cheap part (it will have a vacuum line going to both ends of it ) if you take the modulator out and there is fluid in there you need a new one if the diaphragm is torn you need a new one but for the hell of it since your gonna have it out you sould replace it anyway cause its a cheap part that will eventually need replacing

This engine does not have a timing belt, it is gear-driven. Possibly, you have broken gear teeth, causing the timing to be out of order.
