Seeds need sunlight for germination because without sunlight the seed will never Germinate ever so seeds need sunlight not only sunlight it also need water and flower foods

A seed does not need sunlight to germinate because it is impermeable by light. Seed cases must be broken by water and soil in order for sunlight to get to it anyway.

Seeds don't need photosynthesis. In photosynthesis, sunlight is used by the plant to create various simple sugars. A seed has the nutrients it needs, including those simple sugars, built in.
