people go camping for any reason. some people like me just love to camp. It's the clean fresh air and the beautiful landscape. other people go to try hunting or fishing. some people go just because they think they can get away with stuff in the woods away from everyone. and then other people go just because their friends are going. watch "without a paddle" that will give u a small clue of the last 2 things.
people go camping for the majority of relaxation. The peace and quiet. Also getting to know the world and yourself.

True though I'm not convinced by the "know yourself" bit! However some also go camping as part of expeditions - scientific studies, caving or climbing, etc.
In this era of big-screen televisions, action-packed video games, and coffee drinks made to order, a camping trip might seem outdated and unnecessary. Why bother driving to some place in the middle of nowhere to sleep on the ground among bugs when there is a large comfortable bed in the next room? Though it might not make sense to some, leaving the comforts of home to go on a camping trip can be a relaxing, fun, experience.
A camping trip does not need to be far away from civilization in an isolated area. In the United States, there are many state and national parks which provide camping areas close to bathrooms with running water and stores which sell supplies that may be needed on a camping trip. The parks are staffed with personnel who can answer questions about the park. A ranger can give directions to a good place for fishing or point out a scenic hiking trail.
Camping can be particularly beneficial for families. Besides seeing trees and animals that they might not see at home, children can learn about contributing to the benefit of the family by helping pitch a tent or start a fire. They can learn to appreciate and respect nature and the environment on a hike to a distant lake. They will learn self-reliance by carrying their share of supplies and equipment on a back packing trip. The exercise and fresh air will be beneficial, especially since many children lead sedentary lives and either do not have the opportunity or are not encouraged to be more active.
A camping trip provides an opportunity to leave the stress of a job and city life behind for a short time. After listening to the sweet songs of birds in the early morning or sleeping peacefully under the stars, a person can return to work ready to face challenges and solve problems.
Camping isn’t for everyone, but for those who try it and like it, camping is a great way to enjoy nature. Why not give it a try.

Well, I camp because I enjoy camping. I suspect that most people who go camping do it for the same reason.
