It all started in Oxford, England in a boat beneath a sunny sky where echoes fade and memories die. Charles Dodgson (Lewis Carroll), Reverend Duckworth, Alice Liddell (The Real Alice), Lorina Liddell, and Edith Liddell were all in that boat that famous day. Lewis was telling the three little girls of a marvelous place called Wonderland and Alice loved the stories so much that she asked him to give it to her as a book. So Lewis set to work and gave it to her for Christmas. Later his friend George Macdonald had his children read the story and they told Lewis to publish it. Thus the story was born on a boat.

It's recommended for kids because this story helps unleash their imaginations, creativety, and encourages them to think outside the box. Also the wackiness and fun regarding Alice in Wonderland really appeals to a lot of children. All in all, Alice in Wonderland is a classic loved by all, and will always stay a classic.
It epitomises the strange and limitless imagination we all used to have as children, with our fears and hope, vivid dreams (where everything is possible) and fantastic events.
