Why is Billy Tea called Billy Tea?

Belly Tea

The Aussies kept saying, "Belly up to the fire," but pronounced it Billy. Therefore, when people were writing about the tea, they spelled it "Billy". or....maybe it's the same reason the policeman's (Bobby) night stick has a Billy Club..."Billy, you've been bad, so I'm going to hit you in the belly (billy)".
