Methanol is an alcohol with one C atom.

Methanol is also called methyl alcohol. The suffix -ol means the molecule has an -OH group attached to the carbon chain. The word methyl means the molecule has 1 C atom with 3 hydrogen atoms bonded to it.

Alcohols have -OH groups attached to the chain of C atoms.

Hydroxide generally refers to the hydroxide ion.

In Methyl alcohol the OH group is bonded covalently and behaves differently.

Alcohols and hydroxides are not the only sumestances to contain the OH group either, a number of acids do as well.

"Methane hydroxide" is not standard nomenclature. "Methanol" is the closest genuine compound I can imagine; the formula for that can be written as H3COH.

Is methanol an ionic or molecular compound?

Molecular. Rubbing alcohol is isopropanol, with chemical formula C3H8O, which can also be written as (to show better how the atoms are connected): (CH3)2CHOH. Molecular compounds are between non-metals only. Rubbing alcohol contains carbon, hydrogen, and oxygen, which are all non-metals.

What elements are present in BaCI2?

Assuming that the questioner would have written BaCl2 instead of BaCI2, if typographic resources were available to do so, the answer is "barium and chlorine". The formula as written shows the presence of barium, carbon, and iodine, but this formula does not correspond to any known compound.

A chemistry student writes the molecular formula for sodium phosphate as Na3P1O4. Although this version of the formula is acceptable how is the formula more typically written?

Na3P1O4 is usually written as Na3PO4 Note the '1' is missing / not written. NNB For all chemical formulae if there is only ONE atom present in the formula, then the '1' is NOT written. e.g. H2O ; only ONE oxygen e.g. CO2 ; only ONE carbon.
