Why is ESRI so dominant in GIS?

ESRI are dominant for a couple of reasons.

1) they produce a very good product that is very capable

2) they supply the software free to schools, so most people learn GIS using it

3) In america, the software is cheap enough for a lot of people to use

4) They have regular updates to keep the software current

BUT:

There is other software out there that is just as capable, and some is even free (e.g google earth)

1 their produce just is so-so .

2 yes .that is right

3 yes .but it is not cheapest for everyone .avismap can offer cheapest one for you.

4 yes . updates .every software updates .you didnot know
