Why is Easter Sunday important?

The word Easter is not seen in the Bible. It could be a pagan term. The importance is Jesus Christ rose again from the Death (on Easter Sunday).

Jesus Christ broke the power of death (the sting of death) and gave a HOPE Permanent to all those who have the fear of death.

Jesus Christ defeated the only Arch Enemy of mankind the Satan/Devil through His resurrection.

On that day Jesus Christ (the only begotten Son of God) became the First Begotten from the dead. Thus All those who believe in Him became the children (brothers of Jesus Christ) of God.

Easter is the celebration of the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Even the current day "Easter Egg" symbolizes the resurrection--originally dyed red by the early Catholics to symbolize the blood of Christ and later to represent new life and fertility. After Jesus was beaten and crucified, He returned to life on the third day after His death. He defeated death and that is why Christians celebrate Easter.

For Jehovah's Witnesses, Easter is not important at all. Never has been; never will be. We just don't think that rabbits, bunnies, and colored eggs, have anything to do with Christ Jesus.

Easter Sunday on the U.S. calendar correlates to the Passover celebration on the Jewish Calendar. The Jewish year was controlled by solar/lunar cycles. That is why our Easter does not fall on the same date each year. Jesus was crucified on the Jewish Passover and so Easter Sunday (three days later) is important to Christians because Jesus resurrected on Sunday morning.
