Answer 1
Because the real Islam is Sunni
Answer 2
Unlike the previous answer, many would contend that popularity does not connote correctness as many unpopular people (such as Mohammed himself in his earlier years) had the right idea. This is not to say that Shi'a is correct, but that numbers do not imply Sunni correctness.
Shi'a Islam began as a political faction within the Umma (Islamic community) and as a result of this was a minority of the Umma from its original starting point. The Shi'a reverence for Hassan and Hussein Ibnaa 'Ali had a political veneer in addition to its deep spiritual significance. It was a sign of dissatisfaction with the Umayyad Caliphs. As a result the Umayyads made Sunni Islam the only acceptable form of Islam in their empire and brutally repressed and murdered Shiites and their leadership. The Abbassids, the successors to the Umayyads, instituted a similar policy. Shiites did form Caliphates during this period (700s to the 1100s), but the rise of the Ayubbite State (under Saladin) and the Turkish Empires (Mamluk, Seljuk, Ottoman, Mughal, and Timurid) lead to the upsurge and domination of Sunni belief. Only Iran and the surrounding area led by the Safavid Shiite Rulers held onto their Shiite faith in this period and, on account of the Safavids, many Sunnis in Iran were converted forcibly to Shiism.
The countries where there are more Shia than Sunni and where sunni muslims are persecuted for their beliefs are mainly Iran and Iraq, where the shiia population is over 90%
the Sunni and Shiite are two main sects in Islam religion first as majority and latter as minority.
Sunni. about 90%
I would assume there are more Sunni Muslims in Austria than Shia Muslims as in general the split is around 90% Sunni and 10% Shia worldwide. Shia's are mostly found in countries like Iran, Iraq, Syria and Pakistan. So they are a minority sect unlike the Sunni's who are mainstream and represent orthodox Islam.
Persians are practicing the religion of Islam.

in Iran near 90% of people are shia Muslims. Muslims in world are near 80% sunni and near 20% shia. researchers have counted up to 260 sect for Islam that they all belong to categories Sunni and shia. the main category of Shia is 12 Imami shia and other sects of shia are nearly extincted. there is at least 300,000,000 shia Muslims in world, but there is no clear stat. shias always have been controlled and killed during history and so usually they hide their beliefs. all 12 Imams of shia have been killed or spent their life in prison by Omayyads and Abbasids.
The majority is Islam with the possibility of a couple percentage of Christians and others!
No, Sami Yusuf is a Sunni Muslim.A side point: in Islam both Sunnis and Shiites are called just Muslims because differences are only on some side details and not in the basic Islam beliefs. Refer to related question below for more information.
