Most Kurdish people are upset about this issue, and turkeys flag is mostly green- so kurdish adults dont wear green in kurdistan- even though it's part of the kurdistan flag.

Is Kurdistan free?

When speaking of Kurdistan, it is typically assigned the status of the area of Northern Iraq, Southern Turkey, Western Iran and Eastern Syria. The Kurds there do not have an officially recognized country, but the ones in the mountainous regions enjoy relative autonomy, but are still under the jurisdiction of the respective governments. So, in short, yes and no. Kurdistan is autonomous in Iraq, they have a government in Iraq. But not Syria, Turkey and Iran. In Turkey, Kurdish culture, language, history, and politics are actively repressed. Things are changing in Syria it is possible that the Kurds walkout of this revolution one autonomy richer.

When was Kurdistan divided and who did it?

Answer 1There was never a state called Kurdistan, so therefore it has never really been divided. A more correct way to put it, is that it has never been united. During the fall of the Ottoman Empire it seemed like there was going to be a Kurdistan for the first time in history, but it turned out otherwise. In the Treaty of Lausanne the borders of the remainders of the Ottoman Empire are clarified, and in that treaty in 1923 it was decided that there would be no Kurdistan. The treaty was signed by Turkey, Great-Britain, France, Italy, Japan, Greece, Romania, and the Serb-Croat-Slovene State.Answer 2There has been no modern nation of Kurdistan for any extended period of time, but the region of Kurdistan was well-known in an unofficial capacity for centuries. The Ardalan Kurdish State existed from 959-1117 C.E. in parts of what is currently called Iranian Kurdistan and Iraqi Kurdistan. As a result, there is a historic Kurdish State. However, it was overrun by the Seljuks. Regardless, by the late 1400s, the region of Kurdistan had several quasi-autonomous Kurdish statelets that remained vassals of larger more powerful neighbors. However, the first major division of the region of Kurdistan occurred in the early 1500s when the Safavids of Iran and Ottomans of Turkey created a border that separated Iranian Kurdistan permanently from Turkish/Iraqi/Syrian Kurdistan. With the Fall of the Ottoman Empire, the Ottoman government capitulated to Allies at the end of World War I and signed the Treaty of Sèvres in 1919, which, among other things, granted the right for an independent Kurdistan. However, Mustafa Kemal Ataturk overthrew the Ottoman government and established the modern Republic of Turkey. He successfully opposed the Greek forces on the Anatolian mainland and prevented the realization of a new Kurdish state in the east. Thus in 1923, the Treaty of Sèvres was abrogated by the Treaty of Lausanne and Kurdistan was further divided by the creation of the French Mandate of Syria and the British Mandate of Iraq. This is how Kurdistan as a region was divided.

The languages are Sorani, Kurmanji and more I think. Kurdish is just a term used to describe several dialects spoken by kurds. Its spoken in Kurdistan which is made up from parts of syria, Iraq, Iran and turkey. Its a whole country but has been ripped apart by war so its not on most maps yet.

Would the Kurds need to fight all four of the nations that occupy Kurdistan for autonomy?

No. Iraqi Kurdistan and Syrian Kurdistan are already de facto independent of the direct control of Baghdad and Damascus anyway, so the only places where a struggle for Kurdish independence must seriously continue are Turkey and Iran.

Why was Kurdistan destroyed by the British government?

The UK government did not actively destroy Kurdistan, but passively destroyed it. According to the Treaty of Sevres, there was supposed to be an independent Kurdistan, but when the new Turkish government refused to abide by that treaty, the British and French were too worn out from World War I to force Turkey to adhere to the terms. So, they accepted the new Treaty of Lausanne which prevented the creation of an independent Kurdistan.

Is there a country called kirkistan?

No, but there is a country called Kyrgyzstan. It is an independent republic in Central Asia and was formerly an SSR of the Soviet Union. There is also a region called Kurdistan, which is located in the Middle East. It was split between the countries of Turkey, Syria, Iraq, and Iran by the Great Powers so there would not be one Kurdistan nation and would create issues in the Middle East.

Where do kurdish people live?

Kurdish people live in a country called Kurdistan. Even though some maps dont show kurdistan it is a country. Kurdistan is made up of four parts, Iraq, Iran, Turkey and Syria. Saddam Hussain tortured the kurds for many many years. Type in kurdish genocide and you will get the details. The kurdish flag is red, white, green and gold. Kurdistan is famous for its beautiful mountains (Zagros mountains) and Peshmerga (Soldiers). Im not kurdish so I dont know to much buts its country worth reading about and even visiting. Let me give a better one; Kurdish people live in Iraq/Iran/Turkey/Syria and even some live in Armenia There are also many Kurds in Europe. Kurds are fighting for their own country, they are fighting for their own historical land, they do not have a country yet, so the the guy before me was wrong. The land that Kurds claim as theirs, are historically Kurdish land. Those who fight for Kurds are called Peshmerga's, my father was a Peshmerga.

What are kurdish people?

Kurdish people are from kurdistan which is made up from parts of four countries. Iraq, Iran, Turkey and syria. I see kurdistan as a whole country and not four parts but sadly due so much war there country was ripped apart. Kurds have there own languages, music, clothes and food. They dont speak Arabic like some might think. Talibani who is president of Iraq is Kurdish. I know a few kurdish people and there wonderful, most fly there flag like Americans do, there very proud to be Kurdish. Type in Saman Omar or Dashne, they are just 2 of the kurdish singers that I know of. You will hear there language and see there clothes BUT i think they are only from the Iraq part of kurdistan.
