Veterans Day is important for many reasons, but being a Veteran I think this is the most important answer. When I served this country, I saw terrible things, lived through terrible things, and had to do things that keep me awake to this very day. I did those things because I and many more like me (some are no longer alive) love you. We didn't do the things we did because anyone asked us; we did these terrible things so you could live a safe and somewhat normal life. We sacrificed our lives so you didn't have to. We answered the call so you could be free. We didn't do these things for the government or because it was the "cool" thing to do. We did and have done all of these things for the people of this country.
Now that we no longer are able (disabled Vets), or have seen too much, did too many things, or our service to you and freedom is now over, shouldn't we have one day that civilians say thank you, or hold a moment of silence? The things that service members do are done so that you can lead a normal and happy life. We fought so you didn't have to, and in that service we go through things that forever change our lives, especially combat Vets. So my best answer to this question is simple. Why isn't Veterans Day important?

Veterans Day is important because it is a display of respect and honor to our veterans and what they have done for our country. Without our veterans, who fought for our independence, we probably would not have our independence now. They gave up a lot to fight for our country and they deserve our respect and thanks.
It is important to celebrate Veterans Day because these people fight for our lives, freedom, and rights, so we give thanks to them all for this with a holiday.
