While some people like to believe something sinister is going on at this military base in Nevada, it is more likely that the base is restricted because of highly-classified testing of weapons and aircraft there. It is thus not a typical air base that anyone can visit, since its purpose is to perform top-secret kinds of research and testing that will later be used by the military.

Area 51 is an extremely confidential area, mainly due to the type of work the US Air Force does there. The US Air Force uses this area for top secret testing on aircraft and possibly weapons. The American people will probably never know all that is going on here for national security reasons.
