Answer
The head gasket seperates the top part of the engine from the bottom part of the engine.
There are holes in the gasket that send coolant through the engine. Right next to the holes in the gasket is a wall made bt the waffering of the metal, gasket, metal. Bigger holes have walls that Seperate the pistons from the coolant system.
Your head gasket "wall" may be cracked and coolant is getting into the piston hole and buring off in your exaust. Take a look to see if extra steam comes from your pipe.
A healthy engine will normaly drip water, but extra steam and the smell of coolant in the exaust would be a good sign of the damage of the gasket.
If you have run your coolant dry or over heated your car receintly, it most likely wil be this.
If the smell is from under your hood, your hose that transports the coolant from the radiator to the motor may be leaking. It may also be the radiator leaking onto the manifold. The hose is the cheap fix. The radiator is expencive and the head gasket is quite a doller.
