Why is dancing or enjoying music called grooving?

In: Music

Answer

I guess it refers to vinyl records. The old LPs have grooves in which the needle runs. So therefore, when you say "I am grooving" it means that you are "in tune with the music" or, well, "in the (record)groove"

Hope that helps..
