Best Answer

Because Egypt is in the middle of the desert, and without the Nile, Egypt wouldn't exist. It's like a super-sized oasis.

Egypt is considered the "Gift of the Nile" because without the Nile river Egypt would probably not exist. The Nile was the basis for the ancient Egyptian civilizations along its banks, and is still of critical value today.

The Nile Delta was originally composed of tiny parcels of fertile lands through which the River Nile flowed. The river flooded on a regular basis and in so doing helped to spread those fertile soils over a far wider area as well as providing water to them. This allowed people to cultivate the land (which was formerly desert) and to grow crops.

The Nile also provides fish, for food, and is used for transport.
