People claim that they have their pet or a loved one undergo euthanasia out of respect and love for them. This is legal, since most of the times it is miserable to see the state of the person who is genuinely getting deteriorated and we keep mum about it and can do nothing. There are people who do not deserve to go through such a death, but we would have seen them live with such pride and dignity all their lives that it would be utterly painful to see them bed ridden and die every day. The benefits would be vast to a person who is suffering because it is the quickest way to set them free and give them the peace they deserve. To the patient, it is an end of an era since fighting for life is no more an option but only struggling for it is. There are different conditions of terminal illness that have signs of improvement and show different ways to life with a positive attitude but cases that are extreme are the ones that are prone to adopt Euthanasia.
Euthanasia can be used in order to minimize pain and suffering in terminally ill patients. So rather than have a person who has 3 or 4 months left to live endure suffering, pain, anguish, etc., mercy killing can be used to give this person a quick end to a miserable existence.
Because it takes dying/severely injured/sick animals out of a lot of pain. It ends a life that would otherwise be full of suffering, and it lets the animal die quickly and painlessly rather than slowly, hurting all the time.
Advocates of euthanasia argue that it is the humane thing to do because it takes ill individuals out of their pain. Some also argue that resources are saved in those cases where the patient is in a vegetative state with no chance of recovery.
Some arguments in favor of euthanasia are:
Ending severe amounts of pain
Friends and family don't have to watch suffering
Less of a financial burden personally and nationally
Allows for organ donation
Well, some GOOD things about euthanasia are:
The primary positive effects of euthanasia is to limit the further suffering of the person. That is, it is judged that ending the person's life is more helpful to the well-being of the person (i.e. more humane) than requiring the person to continue to wait for a "natural" death.
It can also be seen as allowing a person to have a measure of control over their destiny, rather than be subject to the whims of their particular ailment or condition.
Note that the above generally only apply to self-directed euthanasia - that is, euthanasia conducted at the sole direction of the person being euthanized, with no meaningful outside inducement. Euthanasia committed at the direction of a 3rd party is almost universally seen as evil, with no real redeeming value.
What are known as "mercy killings" are properly considered of a different nature than euthanasia, despite the occasional mis-labeling in the popular press (that is, occasionally, actions which should be properly termed euthanasia are labeled a mercy killing, and vice versa).
