Why is homeschooling better than public school?

It's not. You'll be trapping your children in a non-social environment where they will not have the room to grow and mature. If you have a decent amount of money (which you probably do if you can afford to stay home with your child) and live in a school district where you think the schooling is below your standards, there are plenty of private schools, charter schools, and catholic schools for you to consider. I'm a 15 year old and the four children I know who have been home schooled hardly ever leave the house and have few friends. Unless your child has special needs a school cannot attend to I'd recommend not homeschooling.

Answer

Schools top priority should be to teach a child. Home school students perform much higher in all levels.

You can see the numbers are based on the department of education.

The main arguement you hear from the public school side is that your child will not be socialized. I think this is a classic example of parents who are unwilling to raise their own children and feel it is someone else's responsibility to teach their children. Sexual education is a prime example.

Data speaks for itself, children learn better 1 on 1 versus 20-30 on 1.

Answer

My children attended public school until I removed them 3 years ago. They were forced to be part of the mainstream instead of allowing for their individual differences. Not all children learn at the same pace, nor do they learn the same way. The public school setting does now allow for individuality as much as they claim. Each year public school districts cut more and more programs. Programs for the arts are suffering.

My children have surpassed their friends in regard to learning. They've gained back that natural desire to learn and are not chained to a curriculum that only allows for certain things to be learned during the 10 month school year. My sons are free to explore whatever intrigues them and excites them.

As for socialization. We are active as a family and there are plenty of things that the boys are involved in. In years gone by there were no suburbs and most children had only their siblings and cousins to play with. My children are free from bullying, free from peer pressure to have the "right" clothing, or "right" look. They're free to be individuals because in truth.... public school does nothing to prepare kids for the transition to college life. And that's the usual path of most kids these days. In public school bells ring to tell you what to do. Your day is planned. When you reach college there is no one there to tell you to get out of the hall and get to class. You're an adult and expected to do so on your own.

I've rambled enough but if homeschooling were not better than public schools, why is there a growing population of families choosing to homeschool their children? It worked for generations before us. It just wasn't called "homeschooling."

Answer

I personally think that public schooling is better because you get chance to learn from an educator and learn about your feelings and you get an opportunity to make new friends and learn how to stand up for yourself. I haven't experienced homeschooling but that's just me.

Answer

I think public school is good if you are determined to learn. I think that the problem with school is that especially teenagers just go there to socialise and don't care about their education. I don't think that there's anything wrong with socialising, it's just that the people they socialise with aren't always a great influence. When it comes to homeschooling, I think it's good. However, I don't agree with parents that just make their kids sit at home all day either. I really would like to go to school, but I'm okay with homeschooling. Sometimes I feel a bit left out. I have few friends, but I know that they are closer to me than any friends I would have if I went to school. So...I think that school is good if you go there to learn, and homeschooling is good as long as you socialise too.
