Why is it dark for 24 hours in winter and light for 24 hours in the summer in Antarctica?

[Edit]

ANSWER:

Its because of the tilt of the earth on its axis. The northern hemisphere tilts away from the sun starting around march 21 and then towards it on september 23. This makes the earth no spin any different, so the day lasts for 6 months and then the night lasts 6 months.
