Those points of view, real or perceived, help make for a more objective understanding of why specific population centers thrived or vanished. For example one major factor was the desire for European explorers to find a northwest passage to the Pacific Ocean and the Far East for trade which created Arctic outposts and cartography which in turn expanded the known world to all civilization as well as made indigenous people more vulnerable to the problems previously unknown to them such as diseases like the common cold. The aboriginal people would have gained some improvements in their daily life from technologicaladvances in hunting, fishing, medicine and even travel as they were often required to migrate seasonally due to the harsh Arctic and subarctic winters and of course the giant mosquito swarms in the summer. Migration patterns would also have been altereddue to loss of land, establishment of towns and cities and lifestyles that required no travel. The impact of religion would also be an important factor in altering traditional ways. You can see how the land began to develop and divide by values attached to the points of view. The lessons of history are an advantage to those who can study history over those that won't or can't.
