if it ends up on the ground and into the sewer it will cycle into the ocean and hurt some creatures if they try to swallow it. Also it's where the sea-glass comes from. It also takes millions of years if ever to decompose.

because the cost of manufacture from sand is so high, it is important that we recycle it so that we use glass that is already in existence, rather than spending even more money making new glass.

You can recycle glass. Glass bottles are easy and cheap to recycle, and use far less energy than it takes to make glass from the original sand.

Window glass and glass kitchen equipment has a slightly different composition, so it should not be added to recycling bins.
