The houses in the terai regions and in Goa and Mangalore have sloping roofs because there is very heavy rainfall. If there is no slanting roof, the water of the rain will collect there which weaken the strength of roofs.
Its because when there's sloping roofs, the rain water can easily flow towards the ground or a respective unit where water is collected, instead of cloggin on the roof top. And houses in the Tarai region, Goa and in Mangalore have such roofed houses, because it rains frequently in these areas...
Probably to do with the heavy rain they get during Monsoon season, same reason any house has a sloping roof heh.
