Because Australia is in the Southern Hemisphere and North America is in the Northern Hemisphere. The tilt of the earth's axis in relation to the sun gives us opposite seasons in either hemisphere.
When one hemisphere of the Earth (northern, southern) is tilted toward the Sun, the opposite hemisphere is tilted away from the Sun.
The tilt of the Earth with respect to its orbital plane is what causes seasons to occur throughout the year.
(see related question)
The 23.5 tilt of the Earth on its axis causes the countries in the two hemispheres namely the Northern and Southern hemispheres to receive unbalanced amounts of sunlight, thus causing different temperatures which results in different seasons in different hemispheres at the same point of time. Therefore, when the countries in the Northern hemisphere experience (Spring/summer/Autumn/Winter),the countries in the Southern hemisphere will experience (Autumn/Winter/Spring/summer) respectively.
In June,Australia in the Northern hemisphere receives less direct sunlight,so it experiences Winter, while Italy in the Southern hemisphere receives more direct sunlight resulting in Summer.

The Earth is tilted on an axis and travels around the Sun while spinning on this axis. For three months of the year, the Northern Hemisphere is leaning towards the Sun while the Southern Hemisphere isn't. This is when it's summer in the Northern Hemisphere and winter in the Southern. Here, the Sun's rays are targeted towards the Tropic of Cancer. For another three months, the same scenario is present but vice versa, meaning it's summer in the Southern Hemisphere and winter in the Northern. Here, the Sun's rays are targeted on the Tropic of Capricorn. However, for six months of the year (three months at a time), both hemispheres are typically aligned, making the Sun's rays directed towards the center of the Earth: the Equator. This is when it is either fall or spring, alternating depending on the hemisphere.
Australia is in the Southern Hemisphere when Europe is in the Northern Hemisphere. So when it's summer in Australia, it will be winter in Europe because the Sun's rays are as far from Europe as possible and as close to Australia as possible: the Tropic of Capricorn.
It's all about the tilt of the earth's axis. When it is summer in the UK the earth is oriented in such a way that the north appears to be tilted toward the sun and the south is tilted away from it. Six months later when the earth is at the other end of its orbit, it will be the south that appears tilted toward the sun and the north will appear tilted away from it.
Because Ireland is in the Northern Hemisphere and Australia is in the Southern Hemisphere. Their seasons are therefore opposite.
The tilt of the earth causes Australia to have more direct sunlight during it's summer while Italy's sunlight is less direct, causing the changes in temperature
winter in America in the Northern Hemisphere will be summer in Australia in the southern Hemisphere
When it is winter in France, it is summer in Australia.
Winter in America, summer in Australia.
When it is Fall (or Autumn) in the northern hemisphere, it is Spring in the southern hemisphere.
In Australia, Christmas occurs in their summer, which is the northern hemispheres winter.
If it is winter in Australia, it is summer in the US. The Northern and Southern Hemispheres have opposite seasons.
Christmas Day occurs in Australia's summer. This is because when it is winter in the northern hemisphere, it is the opposite season (summer) in the souern hemisphere, where Australia is located.
Yes. In Australia Winter takes place in June, July and August and in the United States of America, Summer takes place during these months.
Australia is south of the equator, so seasons are reversed from those in North America. Summer in America is winter in Australia. Spring in Australia is autumn in America.
It would be winter in both of these areas, as they lay south of the Equator.
The Australian Summer corresponds to Winter in the USA. When it is summer in the US it is winter in Australia and vice versa.
It is summer in Europe too!To move into a different season, you have to cross the equator. When it is summer in North America, it is winter in South America, southern Africa, and Australia, for example.
