Licorice is a type of candy, with sugar in it, so no it is not good for you. It is okay in moderation, but large amounts are not good for your body. However, real organic liquorice is very good for you. In fact liquorice is a major ingredient in medicines such as cough syrup and antacids. So, when you want some liquorice get the real organic liquorice sold in your health food store and skip the imitation stuff.

The liquorice plant is a legume (related to beans and peas) that is native to southern Europe and parts of Asia. The Chinese use licorice to treat Tuberculosis . Liquorice may be useful in conventional and naturopathic medicine for both mouth ulcers and peptic ulcers.
