This happens to many people and the justification is the person that hurt you (if it's a habit with them) pays the price one way or the other. Generally many of these people are what I call 'users or shakers' and they have relationships, use the person, shake them down for what they can get and move on. An old quote I love is 'The head of the snake will turn around and bite you in the butt.' This simply means you get back what you dish out.

Don't let one bad relationship speak for all the nice guys or girls out there. Not all people are like this. You will find someone that is suited for you.

I was once married (in my 20's) to a mentally and physically abusive husband who continually hurt me no matter how nice I was to him. I finally saw the light and left him and filed for divorce. While doing so he would phone begging to come back, and although my heart was breaking I realized there was no hope for a good relationship with him and I stood my ground. He became angry after that, but, that good old snake finally bit him in the butt! LOL I was free to find out what my own strengths and weakness were and got a better job, lived on my own and became much more independent; made new friends and had a blast. Eventually I was introduced to my 2nd husband by an old male friend I'd known for several years and my 2nd husband and I have been happily married for almost 36 years.
