Magnesium is part of the chlorophyll in all green plants and essential for photosynthesis.

Magnesium is found in algal pigments (known as chlorophyll) and is used in the metabolism of plants, algae, fungi, and bacteria.

Magnesium is found in many enzymes in both plantsand animals. An enzyme is a catalyst in a living organism. It speeds up the rate at which certain changes

Without magnesium it would die because it would not be able to photosynthesise. So it would not have any food which is glucose as energy for growth and repair. The magnesium is needed so that the chlorophyll in the chloroplasts can capture the sun's light energy and use it for photosynthesis.

(Cheers)

Magnesium is very important to a plant. It is a macronutrient, and is needed mostly for chlorophyll in the plant. This is important because chlorophyll is needed for photosynthesis, which is needed for sugar in the plant.

magnesium the mineral used by plants to produce chlorophyll which is needed in order for photosynthesis to take place.

It depends on the use. In fact it is both fruit as well as vegetable.

Magnesium is found in chlorophyll in the same way that iron is found in haemoglobin.

Both types of pigment have a porphyrin ring associated with the protein. In haemoglobin, the porphyrin ring is chelating an Fe2+ ion, while in chlorophyll it is a Mg2+ ion.

Magnesium ions are needed by plants to make chlorophyll

Nitrate ions are needed by plants to make protein

Additional info: Enzymes are protein in nature.

it acts as catalyst to speed up chemical reaction without being used up at the end of the chemical reaction.

Only small amount of enzymes are needed to catalyse (speed up) chemical reactions

Thus, enzymes are needed in plants.

because magnesium is a vital commponent for photosynthesis

Magnesium is an essential element in the chlorophyll molecule - therefore plants need it to survive.

Magnesium sulfate is commonly used to replenish the magnesium content in soil.

How do plants obtain magnesium from the soil?

All the plants, who need photosynthesis for a chemical reaction to light energy, will need Magnesium. Magnesium is classified as an alkaline earth metal. It is the 8th most frequent element found in the Earth's crust. Its an elaborated issue. All plants need Chlorophyl to be transferred to energy (sun light) will need the help of Magnesium.

How is magnesium used by plants and humans?

Humans need magnesium because it helps maintains the normal nerve and muscle function and keeps the heart rhythm steady. Magnesium is used by plants to produce chlorophyll.

What are at least 4 uses for magnesium?

Magnesium is a very important part of he human dietMany people need supplements containing magnesium It is used as a metal Plants have an additional use for magnesium in that chlorophylls are magnesium centered porphyrins.

Why do plants need magarine?

Plants need magnesium for making food !!!! Magnesium is the central atom in the porphyrin ring system in chlorophyll (the heme group in animals is also a porphyrin ring system, though there the central atom is iron).

Why do plants need fertilisers?

Plants need fertilisers because fertilisers provide nutrients e.g. nitrogen and magnesium. Fertilisers are used for boosting off the growth of plants in order for plants to grow faster.

What is sulfa-mag?

It is a soil amendment. Some plants need sulfur and magnesium fertilzer. Epsom salts have 10 percent magnesium and 13 percent sulfur.

Which set of statements best illustrates a material cycle in a self-sustaining ecosystem?

In summer, growing plants remove magnesium ions from the soil to make chlorophyll. In autumn, these plants release magnesium when they die and decompose. In spring, new plants will grow in this same area.

What mineral is an essential compont of chlorophyll?

magnesium. we have iron in our hemoglobin, and plants have a similar shaped molecule with magnesium in the same location, called chlorophyll
