My 12 yr old bishons coat is discoloring wherever body fluid comes in contact with his fur. How can I eliminate this problem?
it may be that your dog is growing up and changes fur color ☺
your dogs growing up just like humans get darker but....doga hrmones are different so it get lighter instead!
Cat fur is softer.
there is really no difference.....most people say dog hair is what it is called when it falls off the dog and fur when it is on the dog...dogs with short fur/hair get less fleas then dogs with long fur/hair.... dogs also with white or light fur get more fleas then dogs with dark or black fur...
== == This could be cause by anything from allergies to getting into poisons among other things and it's very important you take your dog to the vet to have a proper diagnosis done. You owe it to your dog! It could also be something called Mange. Alot of times a dogs eyelids or face will be swollen the skin will be bumpy and hot and the fur will eventually fall out.

WELL TAKE IT TO A DOG PARLOUR AND THEY WILL CUT THE DOG'S FUR!
One reason that Bichon dog's eyes tear so much is because of heredity. Allergies can also cause tearing to occur even more. You should get the dog checked out to ensure that allergies are not the main cause. In order to minimize the discoloration of their fur, clean the area often. This will also prevent odor.
