There are many reasons this could happen. If the dog is calm about you touching the area you might want to ensure it has not damaged the eyeball. Gently open the eye lids and check for trauma. If the eye is bloodshot then a warm salt water bathing of the eye will help. Use about 1 teaspoon of salt for each liter of water. Do not press the eyeball just bath gently and allow the water to run over the closed eye. Dogs often run into branches and objects while playing. They can also get stung by insects. If, when you check the eye, you see any objects in the eye you must take the animal to a veterinarian as you could do excess damage by home remedies.

∙ 12y agoit could be an allergic reaction like if there is a plant or somthing their allergic to. or it could be a snake bite or ants or bees and ect. so get your dogs some water and food and watch it. it could turn into a life threating thing but it could also be fine. don't worrie to much.

∙ 11y agoUsually that would indicate an infection or severe irritation to the eye. It can also indicate an allergy. Go to your veterinarian to get the eye checked for an ulcer that can cause permanent damage.
