Myth is a traditional stories about their gods. Epics is a long narrative poem celebrating the deeds of legendry or traditional heroes. Through the myths the greeks sought to understand the mysteries of natureband the power of human passions. A greek could display this ideal on the battle field in combat or in athletic contests on the playing field.
mythology is important to Greeks because the ancient Greeks thought of these stories as christians do The Bible, they believed that the gods were real and actually reflected real life events eg the story of pandoras box is a symbol of how all the bad things in the world like fear and saddness are caused by humans but where they are there is always hope.
it explains the creation of the world and of human beings.
What we call the myths was the Greek religion, so of course it was important.
They needed what science is for us. A way to explain how things happened. Such as the seasons.
The ancient Greeks used myths to cope with tragedy, deal with the unknown, and impart morals to society, much in the way modern religions do today.
Greek mythology is important to learn about different culture and religion.

For the Ancient Greeks, their religion (what we call Greek Mythology) was everything. Their dad-to-day lives were focused on and pretty much revolved around their religion. Their religion was a life-style for them, centered on the gods they worshipped.

I don't know about in modern times, but in Ancient times, virtually all Greeks believed in their gods, which we call Greek Mythology. For the Greeks, their religion was much more important in their lives than religion is for many people today. In fact, their religion was a lifestyle for them. As for modern days, I'm hazarding the guess that there are a lot less people who are greek or live in Greece that believe in ancient Greek Mythology. Hope I helped! :)
Well, the Greeks made mythology about the how the earth works so mythology is important because it is Greek history
The role of mythology is important in the life of ancient Greeks because it helped them answer questions they could not with the understanding they had at the time. For example, when there was a storm, they believed that Zeus was upset at them for something they had done. Or, when they lost a battle, they would blame someone for upsetting Ares and causing him to fight with the other side against them. Basically, it gave them someone to blame or praise for the events that happened in their life that they couldn't otherwise explain.
The first Greek myth was in the 8th century BC, But the end of Greek mythology is impossible to answer
