The daily obligatory prayers (there are three, the Bahai believer is free to choose any one of them on a given day) are one of the daily spiritual disciplines that are part of the Bahai life. Other daily obligations are to call yourself to account each day (ethical self-criticism) and to study the scriptures each day. Together, the daily obligations are an important part of transforming one's character and developing spiritual capacities.
