Logistically it is an advantage by being able to have a base for supplies, fuel, support and maintenance personnel, in the middle of the Pacific Ocean, rather than on the West Coast of the Continental US. It would take at least 6 days for a ship to get from the West Coast to Hawaii.

The battle of Pearl Harbor Hawaii was when the Japanese and Americans engaged in battle. The Japanese sunk some of our Naval ships and dismantled the base. A lot of heroes were made fighting that battle and it ended up leading up to the use of the Atomic bomb on Japan Nagasaki and Hiroshima. Its also the largest Naval base in the Pacific.

The Terrorist attack on 9-11 is famous and will always be remembered for years. This event resulted in the President of US declaring war against terrorists. The attack on Pearl Harbor had very similar impact on Americans.

It occurred at pearl harbor, Hawaii ,Dec.7 ,1941 ,that attack happened unexpectedly.

Why did it happen:

The The Japanese wanted to control the Pacific and figured that since the USA. was unprepared for war, and told their people that the USA. citizens were not racially pure enough to endure the war. Thinking that the USA. was weak and unprepared, Japanese military attacked Pearl Harbor in an attempt to drive the USA. Navy out of Hawaii so that Japan could invade.

extraWestern nations such as the United States, the United Kingdom and the Netherlands disagreed with Japan's attacks so they refused to trade with them anymore - cutting off Japan's supply of oil and other resources
