Pink is not just for girls. If you went back in time to just before World War II (the 1939-1945 war) and found a girl wearing pink then that girl would have been thought of as dressing butch. For most of history pink was the boys colour (because it's an offshoot of angry red) and blue was the girls colour (because it was thought to be calming and serene). People of that age would have had problems with boys wearing blue and girls wearing pink. In the war (WWII) the Nazi German government issued pink triangles to homosexual men in concentration camps to indicate that they liked the same sex, that is boys (pink). This negative association lasted past WWII and so today we have blue for boys and pink for girls. Because we let what the Nazi's thought about people influence how we saw pink!! Personally, I fight against this every day. I have pink underwear, socks, shirts, trousers, etc... I've never had anyone say anything negative to me (perhaps because I'm 6'6" and 250+ lbs and VERY fit!) other than women who have always been complementative. So, the short answer is, pink is not a girls colour and only worn today as one because of the Nazis.
Because pink is a girl color, and blue is a boy color, but only 60% of American girls like the color pink the other 40% like the colors purple, blue, green, and red
i guess it is because pink is bright and out there but blue is layed back and chilled. But it definitely should not be judged like that!!!
Steriotype I guess. I love it when a boy wears pink tho its soo kwl. I dont see why most boys don't wear pink i mean girls wear blue... =D
They don't!! They are socially constructed to think they do, from the day they are born society and family, peers etc., tell them pink is for girls and blue is for boys and so begins the social construction of gender. Not generally, some girls dont like pink but rather they like blue. same with the boys.. i knew some guys that like that color.. it depends actually.
Heyy allMe as a female and girl, I love pink so so much, and I am gonna tell you why we girls like the pink color choice:-basically, Pink is a cute color, girls think that they look sexy and hot with pink color, and is so much cutter than black or blue, beacsue those colors are not attracted or speical, and boys like to wear iy.in this case, girls don't feel special when they wear blue or black or even red!! But for lucky pink, they love it beacsue it's like girl stuff, and it's sexy for the most important, and few guys who wears pink as their usual color type.Thank you,Miaha1990
well you can get girls and boys. boys are blue with a bit of pink. girls are pink and white.
pink is considered a girls colour because pink is a bright colour and girls are always bright.infant deaths used to be very high, it was belived that blue was a lucky colour so boys were wraped in a blue blanket when they were born, people wanted girls to have there own special colour so they were given pink (it has no special propities), after a time this reason for the gender/colour assinment was forgoten and it simply became blue for boys and pink for girls.because its bright and most girls like bright colours
I know a lot of boys who have pink items of clothing, mostly shirts. I dont feel pink is only for girls, and blue is only for boys. Pink is for anyone! Edit by QuestionMan101. Pink isn't only a girls colour. No colours have a specific gender.
It's because when we are baby boys and girls look alike so to tell us apart pink for girls and blue for boys.
it all started in ancient China when boys were more important than girls. Blue dye was harder to get and it was more expensive than pink dye ,so people generally used blue for boys and pink for girls.Where in Belgium its blue for a girl and pink for a boy.I'm only nine and I knew that
girls wear pink because over the ages, pink has been incorporated to be thought as "girls" wear and for girls only. same with blue and boys. Although now a days boys wear pink aswell and girls wear blue, pink still stands and represents girls for the reason that is has become that through time.
Pink Pink for girls blue for boys a traditional colour
you can tell by the top of there noses if it is blue it is a boy if it is pink its a girls
boys like blue and girls like pink --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I'm a boy and I don't like blue. It's a color that both sexes can use even though it is given to boys at birth to separate them from girls. I think boys need a pretty color that girls can't use since girls have the pretty color of pink that boys can't use.
As Stephen Fry said on QI, - The people who were traditionally dressed in pink and called girls were boys. Pink was considered the traditional colour for boys and blue for girls in the 19th century. In 1927, there was a report about Princess Astrid of Belgium who had decorated her son's room pink, only for her to give birth to a daughter. Part of the reason why blue may be seen as the traditional colour for girls is because the Virgin Mary is dressed in blue. Right until the mid-15th century, all children were referred to as girls, boys were called "knave girls" and girls were called "gay girls". The word "boy" originally meant "servant".
