Best Answer
  • They are the basic building blocks of our bodies.
  • They help with muscle contraction, muscle recovery, blood clotting, oxygen transport, third source of energy.
  • Growth and repair. They help you grow (especially in children) and they also fix any broken bones, down to a little graze.
  • Storage molecules
  • Transport molecules
  • Movement.
  • Combine with each other to make energy
  • Because enzymes are also proteins, it can be said that proteins also act as catalysts.
  • Many essential hormones are proteins.

Protein is essential for humans. That means that we can't do without it in our food and in our bodies, in part because of the nitrogen it contains nitrogen is responsible for growth and repair of the cells and in part because of the particular building blocks that make up protein. Protein is made up of twenty different building blocks, called amino acids, arranged in thousands and thousands of different ways. Every cell in the human body contains protein as part of its structure (cell membrane and other structures). It also serves to build strong structures in the body, as a whole (bones, muscles, tendons, and ligaments); it makes up the compounds that your body used to make the biochemical reactions occur in your body, called enzymes; it is found in your blood as parts of the red blood cells (hemoglobin) and as carriers for other materials (transport proteins);

and it is part of the immune system (antibodies) that helps protect your body from foreign invaders, such as bacteria, viruses, and toxic substances. It also helps you digest your food.

Protein serves both structural and functional roles in the human body. Different types of protein are involved in building up the structure of the human body eg. Actin and myosin ( two proteins ) make muscle cells, keratin makes hair, etc. Proteins serve structural roles by being a component of the cells. They serve functional roles by catalysing reactions in human body eg, enzymes ( proteins ) are involved in all the reactions that take place in human body eg, Kreb's cycle involves an array of enzymes to help cells utilize respirated oxygen in human body.

proteins are very important for the growth and repair of the body:)They are because they make up our enzymes, cell parts, cells, tissues, organs and really our whole body. The proteins are made in ribosomes which get instructions from tRNA which was translated from mRNA which were transcribed from DNA.
