I Do not have jeep or one does not have an airbag
The airbag light comes on at start up for a bulb check. It stays on when the computer detects a malfunction and sets a code.
No light on 95-96 cherokee. Thay are a self-contained unit.
hey, my 98 jeep has the same issue. Was looking into the horn being shot, but realized that the airbag light has been on for some time as well. Wondering if you managed to get to the bottom of your issue? John hojo53@hotmail.com

There is a problem with the safety restraint system, it could be an airbag malfunction and unfortunately the dealer is the only one really qualified to service it.
replace airbag sensors, or fix the damage around them (front end damage i would assume)

The light is on because the air bag computer has detected a malfunction and set a code. The failure will have to be repaired to get the light off.
Not dangerous, but not as safe as if the light didn't come on. With the light on, you do not know if the airbag will function properly in the event of a crash.
