I figured out there was an air bubble in the line. I had to unhook it from the bottom of the dishwasher and let some water flow through and then reconnect. That solved the problem.
Is the filter clear? is the tap turned on? is it connected correctly?
Cascade says it can be used in cold water.
Your dishwasher soap already has a water softener included in it. You can run the salt through, but it may affect the amount of soap you need.
You possibly need a water filter.
You have hard water, the white residue is calcium carbonate (limestone).
Yes you can. Just don't put dishes in it at the same time! just pour a puddle of clr and water mixture (mix as per instructions on bottle) onto the bottom of the dishwasher. -Don't use to much or the dishwasher will have bubbles on your floor.- Make sure to scrub problem areas e.g. calcium and rust. then run dishwasher EMPTY on it's "light wash" or "quick rinse" option and turn off the heat dry (you don't need to dry an empty dishwasher!). Do not leave the house until the cycle has finished. When cycle is finished, remove the filter and sprayer arms/tower and rinse in clean water. repeat if necessary. Enjoy your now clean dishwasher.
You could damage a dishwasher basket by filling it with too many things, which will stretch it. If you have overfilled your dishwasher basket, you need to buy another one.
