It is due to the fat that negatively charged ions contain extra electrons than corresponding atoms, to accomodate these extra electrons they are shifted to another orbit hence radius increases.
A negative ion contains more electrons than its parent atom. The ion still has the same number of protons, but these have to hold onto the larger number of electrons by attraction. The attractive force is thus dissipated over a larger number of electrons and does not hold onto them as tightly. This results in the ionic radius being larger.

why the ionic radii of negative ions are larger than the size of their parent atoms?
Because they have more "stuff" in them. Negative ions have more electrons in them. Electrons have a negative charge, so something with many electrons would be negative aswell.
The additional electron(s) go into the next available orbit, so the anion is always slightly larger than the neutral analog.
Because when electrons are added to form an anion, the increased electron-electron repulsions cause the electron to spread out more in space. Thus anion are larger than their parent atoms.
Because electrons are gained.
The negative ionic radius is larger than the neutral atomic radius
the positive ionic radius is smaller than the neutral atomic radius
Atomic radius of Si is 111pm.Atomic radius of Pb is 175pm.Therefore lead has a larger atomic radius than silicon.
K (potassium) has the larger atomic radius.
A cation has a smaller atomic radius compared with the neutral atom.
