The left lung (which has two lobes) has to be smaller than the right lung (which has three lobes) because space on the left side is occupied by the heart and its associated blood vessels.

The heart, while basically in the center of the chest, has more of its mass on the left. This means there is less space in the pleural cavity of the left thorax than the right. An image of the lungs alone reveals that there is also something displacing the bottom portion of the left lung. I'm not sure why this is.

Hello

why the left lung is smaller than the right one?

Because it is below the heart.

It is smaller because the heart is located toward the left side of the chest.

Do we have 2 or 4 lungs?

We have 2 lungs, of not equal size. The left lung is smaller than the right lung to give room for your heart.

Which lung is smaller youror left and why?

The left is smaller, due to the presence of cardiac notch

Are the 2 lungs the same?

The left lung only has 2 lobes (superior and inferior) because the heart takes up much of the space allowed on the left side. The right lung; however, has 3 lobes (Superior, Middle, and Inferior). Yes. The left lung is a little less voluminous than the right lung. It has two lobes, whereas the right lung has three. Its volume is displaced a bit more, by the location of the heart, than the right lung.

Which lung is smaller then the other lung?

The left lung is smaller than the right.

Which lung is smaller your right or your left and Why?

The right lung is slightly bigger due to the heart. The heart takes up more room on the left side so that the right lung has more room on the right side.

Why is it that the right side of the LUNGS is bigger than left side?

Its bigger because the right lung has more lobs then the left lung.

Why are the left chambers of the heart smaller than those on the left?

You are talking the left chambers both times. The left ventricle has larger walls because it pumps blood to most of the body, while the right ventricle pumps only to the lungs. The left pumps blood through the arteries to the body. The right side pumps blood through veins to the heart. The left atrium and left ventricle are larger than their right counterparts.

What are the differences between the two lungs?

The right lung is slighty bigger than the left.

Why is the heart not on the center-line of the body?

Your heart is not on the center line of your body for several reasons. Your left ventricle has to pump a lot stronger than the right ventricle. Your left ventricle has to pump blood all over your body. Your right one just pumps blood to your lungs which are right there. The right side is smaller than your left side. Since the right side of your heart is smaller than the left side of your heart, that makes more room on the right side of your chest. Since your body will have more room on the right side of your chest than on the left side, that means your lung will have more room on your right side. Still, it will not have enough room to do anything. But, if It moves your heart a little bit more over to the left, it can put a lobe in your lung to the right. That way your lung can have three lobes on the right side and two lobes on the left side.

Why are the right and left lungs not identical?

The right lung is shorter than the left by 1 inch (2.5 centimeters) however, the total capacity of the right lung is greater than the left. The right lung has three lobes, the left lung has two. If you need to know the "why" then its simply in the human genetics that your lungs will never be identical unless you suffer from a mutation of the genes
