The moon has less gravity, because its mass is smaller. Gravity of an object like the moon or a planet is related to its mass. The more mass, the higher the gravity.

The equation for force due to gravity is F=G(m1m2/r2 , therefore decreasing on mass (in this case the moon has less mass than the Earth) lessens the force of gravity. So the above answer was correct this just is a explanation using the equation which hopefully helps the understanding.

By the way, if 2 humans were left in a vacuum, quite close to each other, they would slowly move closer to one another. This is because humans have mass therefore they have a gravitational field.

The law of gravity is not different on the moon but the weight of an object is different on the moon as compared to Earth.

The word "weight" refers to the force of gravitational attraction, usually between a small object and a large one, like a person and a planet. Obviously, if you change the person or the planet you change the force and hence the weight.

We know how this works because we know Newton's law of gravitational attraction which says there is a force in nature galled gravity and the force acts between all pair of objects in the universe, being proportional to the mass of each object and inversely proportional to the square of the distance between the objects. When one speaks of the "distance between to objects" in this case one takes that to be the distance between the centers of the objects. (This idea of a "center" also gets tricky but can be rigorously determined and that is outside the scope of this question.)

The direct answer to the questions is that for a person on the surface of the moon, the force of the moon on you is less because the mass of the moon is less than the mass of the Earth. (Earth has 81 times the mass of the moon.) The force is greater, however, because you are closer to moon's center since the Earth is almost four (3.66) times the radius of the moon. So, the force goes as in inverse square of distance (13 times larger) but proportional to mass (Divide by 81.) and you get about one sixth the force. (Actually, it works out to .165 if you use the accurate numbers for mass and radius.)

because the moon gets its gravity from the earth and as you know there is no gravity in space to the polarty of the moons gravity will natrualy be less
