These early friendships help children learn how to negotiate and relate to others, including their siblings and other family members. It's tough to be an individual when our peer group is so important. I would suggest you start out slow. Change a few small things at a time to let your friends get used to it. It's a sign of psychological maturity to begin to want to individualize yourself from your peer group.

Yeah, it could be. Peer pressure is basically influencing people to do stuff or think stuff they otherwise wouldn't have. I guess if you have a group of friends and 5 out of 6 of you are working really hard on an assignment, you could peer pressure the other friend to do so as well, even if its just so that they would fit in with the rest of you, and i guess that would be positive peer pressure.
