Shorter (blue) wavelengths scatter more easily than longer (red) wavelengths. This is why the sky looks blue, you are seeing scattered blue light. This is also why sunsets are red. Because the sun is close to the horizon, the sun rays pass through more atmosphere than normal to reach your eye. All of the blue light has been scattered out, leaving the red light in a sunset

On the moon, there is no atmosphere at all. No atmosphere, no scattering, no blue sky. There is nothing to see when you look up except the stars, the sun, the earth and the blackness of space.

On Mars, there is a thin atmosphere. The wind whips up the Martian soil, filling the sky with red dust and making it slightly pink.

Why is the sky blue on earth during day time and black in there moon?

the water in our planet reflects the sun light back to the atmosphere thus we have a blue sky the moon has no water and no atmosphere there for no blue sky during the day in the moon.

Why is the color of the sky black from the moon during the day?

The answer is that the Moon has no atmosphere. So, sunlight is not "scattered" as it is by the Earth's atmosphere. The Earth's atmosphere scatters blue light more than other colors causing our sky to be blue. So, the Moon has a black sky during its daytime and the Earth has a blue sky. You can see the black sky in photographs taken during the Apollo Moon landings. There's another answer below, but it's about the Earth's sky. When asked the color of the Earth's night sky, it is tempting to say, "black, of course"! However, that is not really correct. It looks black to us because there is not enough light to stimulate the color-sensitive cones in our eyes, even though there is light in the nighttime sky, and it has color. Away from city lights or other interfering light sources, the night sky, illuminated by moonlight is blue, similar to the sunlit daytime sky. At night we see through the atmosphere and out into space.

Why does the sky look black from the moon even if the sun is shining?

The blue sky we see from the earth is due to blue light diffusion by the Earth's atmosphere. However since the moon does not have an atmosphere there is no light diffusion.

Why does the moon not have a beautiful blue sky in the day?

The blue of Earth's sky is caused by sunlight scattered in the atmosphere. When you get above the atmosphere, the sky turns black. The Moon has no atmosphere at all, and so the sky looks black at any altitude.

Why does the moon not have a beautiful blue sky during the day?

1. Because it orbits the earth 2. Because the blue sky is from wind that is surprisingly blue when its in huge chunks 3. Because There is no wind on the moon whatsoever

Why does the moon seen during the night time?

The Moon Is Seen At Night From Earth because, When The Sky Is Dark, So Is The Atmosphere, And The Moon Is Very Bright Compared To The Black Atmosphere, Same Reason The Earth Is Seen From The Moon. :)

On the moon would the sky look blue or black?

On the moon the sky will look blue.

Why does the sky seem black on the moon?

Because the Moon has no atmosphere, there is no reaction of molecules to the Sun's rays, as there is on Earth during the daytime. If the Earth had no atmosphere, the stars would be visible all the time.
