Smooth muscle is no way connected to the skeleton, example intestine liver etc. Where as striated muscle is connected to skeleton so it is called striated muscle. And the third type of muscle is Cardiac Muscle.
---------------------------
Smooth muscle lack the sarcomeres that give skeletal and cardiac muscles their 'striated' appearance. Skeletal muscle isn't "called striated" because it it attached to the skeleton, it is called striated because sarcomeres give muscle a striated appearance. Thus the name, smooth muscle for looking smooth without striation.
Smooth muscle is muscle that cannot be voluntarily controlled. One place it is found is in the digestive tract, performing peristalsis-- moving food along the digestive tract. Smooth muscle is important because it is subconsciously controlled, so you can go about your day without having to think, "Ok, stomach muscles, contract now... all right, your turn, small intestine...".
Because as a rule of thumb it is these muscles that do not act under conscious control whereas striated muscles do.
Because it lacks striations the muscle appears to look very smooth under a microscope.
because most movements can not be consciously controlled.
It is due to the shape
Because.....
smooth muscles
The muscles of the digestive system are smooth muscles.
Muscles that move bones are called Smooth muscle cells or Skeletal muscles
smooth muscle
It is called involuntary muscle or smooth muscle.
You can not control the smooth muscles as well as cardiac muscles of your body. They are called as involuntary muscles.
Much of our internal organs is made up of smooth muscles. Smooth muscles make up the walls of many organs; eg bladder, gallbladder, arteries, and veins, digestive tract and oesophagus. The smooth muscles are controlled by hormones and the nervous system. Smooth muscles are often called involuntary muscles because we cannot control there movement.
smooth muscles have the ability to sustain the prolong contraction with a little use of energy.this latching of energy in smooth muscles is called latch phenomena, smooth muscles have ability to reduce strength of stimulus once they have fully contracted
Smooth Muscles can, but Cardiac Muscles can not.
Ciliary Muscles.
smooth muscle
yes. The smooth muscles (e.g. in the digestive tract) are involuntary.
