Hi, When I was seven weeks pregnant with my first child, I started bleeding and continued for the next four weeks. During that time I had three ultrasounds, all of which showed a developing baby with a heartbeat. After bleeding four weeks, one of my nurses whispered confidentially that maybe I was too busy and should rest for a week. I was working a full time job, taking two college courses, doing aerobics five days a week. I did rest and fortunately the bleeding stopped. That child is now fifteen years old. Make sure you visit your practictioner with any and all questions. They never did determine why I bled so long. I am eight weeks pregnant with my seventh pregnancy, three of which were full-term deliveries, and three were miscarriages. I hope for a positive outcome for you. Hello All; I understand what you are all feelings. I am almost 9 weeks and last weekend I had brown discharge. I was so alarmed because last year I had what was termed a missed abortion. The doctor at ER took blood work and told me to come back the next day. It did and they compared the levels and informed me the pregnancy was terminated but to come back the next day for an ultrasound and arrangements will be made from there. I had the ultrasound last Monday and there was a strong heart beat and the size was correct. I was so happy to hear the heart beat but afraid to get excited yet. I still have brown discharge off and on and use a panyliner. I hope eveythings works out for all of us. best wishes Erica
You may need a d/c to sort of kick start your cycle. Sometimes the doctor will put you on a few months of Birth Control to re-regulate your cycle. First try a douche to clean and if it persists seek GYN opinion. good luck Joymaker RN
Hi im 6 weeks and 5 days pregnant and i have had spotting and i called the doctor terrified and they said as long as it isn't red and heavy like a period and you don't have cramps or bending over pain then you SHOULD be fine. I was told to drink alot of water and rest as much as i can. Go to bed early and get tons of rest. I don't have cramps but the spotting is still there only when i wipe. it should clear up on its own i was told. my first ultra sound is in about 3 weeks so i hope they are right and everything is ok! good luck and if you arent satisfied with my answer you can call your doctor, but this is what i was told and so im passing it on! good luck!
If you experience prolonged cramping and dark brown spotting don't take these for granted. I just had a miscarriage a few days ago. I was spotting with dark brown for more than a week and cramping, I had an ultrasound and they said that this is early pregnancy that they cant see the embryo and the sac in good shape. I am not convinced that everything is fine that I went to see a doctor, he told me, the spotting is only implantation bleeding that nothing should be worried about..
But its not true after, 10 days of prolonged cramping and dark blood spotting, fresh blood bleeding came and I lost my baby.. Urine is 90 percent fresh blood consistency, cramping is terrible, whole abdomen tightens ,lower Back pain and cramping legs.
Please monitor your hcg level every other day, make sure it doubles itself, every time you spot or bleed, your hcg goes down , just as what happened to me. the baby was never formed, my hcg level didn't even double itself after 3 weeks and finally it went down for 600 for 12 hours as I continue to bleed.
Take care...

its probably fine. but if you have any worry, go see a doctor. it could also be signs of miscarriage.
See your doctor ASAP for proper diagnosis and treatment.
this could be old blood--this happen this to be but last one week and you will still have a healthy pregnancy --congrat
your most likely pregnant and it is old blood you need to let your doctor check you could be pregnant and old blood your uterus is getting rid off
Yes, I have. I was 7 weeks and 5 days pregnant when that started. I was told by my doctor that it was likely old blood that was being discarded and that it was nothing to worry about. In my heart this didn't feel right so I requested a sonogram. Sadly, the sonogram revealed that the pregnancy failed (there was no heart beat). So, for me, the spotting and mucus which was accompanied by mild cramping was a sign that my uterus was trying to abort the pregnancy.
It is pink or brownish in color also it can come and go for days some cramping can come with this but no heavy blood flow and no heavy cramping. Spotting on and off dureing the first 12 weeks of pregnancy is common. Your doctor is always the best one to answer any questions they know your medical history. Best of luck.
No, you shouldn't have any bleeding what so ever, the best way to know how you are doing is checking in with your doctor. Your baby is very important so take eveything serious.
dont worry its just old dryed up blood that was inside of you ; & is comming out now i had the same worrie when i was pregnant
It all depends on your color of blood and level of pain in cramping. If your spotting is pink or brown-ish... they say it is not as big of a problem as dark red and/or heavy bleeding. I read that the embryo implants deeper during the 9th week and sometimes causes spotting and cramping. But either way, go with your intuition... ER or not!
It could be impantation spotting. If you had sex within a day of the spotting starting it could be from the cervix. However if it is changing to red you need to go to see a doctor asap, and make sure your not having a miscarriage. When I was first pregnant with my baby I had spotting without sex and it was from implantation but it was brown blood which is old blood. Red blood is fresh blood!! Good luck.
im 16 and i was supposed to start my period a couple weeks ago and i never did now i am spotting brown blood i was wondering if anyone could tell me what that means
Brownish then after few hours light bright red blood
You can still be pregnant even though you are spotting and loosing blood clots.
Very common. Brown blood is old blood and should not be too concerning. If you begin spotting red blood or experience cramping you should contact your OB.
