You should be able to play the .wmv clip without difficulty in Windows Movie Maker since that is a format that is compatible with the program.

Check to make sure the file is actually a .wmv extension first (right-click the file and choose Properties from the drop-down menu).

If it is actually a .wmv file format, then you might consider re-installing your version of Windows Movie Maker as there may be some technical problems with the program.

How do you send a video from Windows Media Player to Windows Movie Maker?

The Windows Media Player video has to be an actual file to be imported into Windows Movie Maker (meaning you can't drag and drop it).Although I haven't tried it, I believe you can copy the file from Windows Media Player and paste it into Windows Movie Maker (but I don't know this for sure). The best way to get media from Windows Media Player is to ensure it is Saved in the Library.
