Why does my ps3 freeze on the browser and never freeze on games?

At what point do they freeze? Some games might just have their own isolated issues - I remember Assassin's Creed froze on me a couple of times, but no other games have done it. If your games a freezing while they load there may be a problem with your console. I would recommend phoning Sony on their helpline (find the number on the inside back cover on any game manual) and asking them about it.

∙ 15y agoIf it runs for a while and then freezes, and always after about the same amount of time or a decreasing amount of time before it freezes, then you are probably overheating. Make sure that all of your ps3's exhaust vents are clear, maybe point a fan at it (you'd be suprised how much that can help.) If this alleviates the problem then buy one of the external fans for the ps3 they are about ~$20.

∙ 13y agoIt freezes because there might be alot going on in it, you have too much stuff in one part of it. Sometimes its a good thing because with mine, when it freezes the connection gets better or the things i go on load faster.

∙ 12y agoYou may have it set to turn off after it has not been used for a certain time if it is turning off when you are not actually using it. The auto turn off is part of the settings menu and there is also an auto off for the controllers that will stop you from running the batteries down on the controllers when the system is turned off. If it is turning off randomly while you are playing you can try ask the question at the PlayStation Support Network and find out whether it has happened to others. It could be an overheating, power off for protection from fire, system directed shut down. a Link to the support network has been added

∙ 9y agoYour PS3 may be having trouble connecting to your wireless connection. Your wireless connection may be unstable also, therefore causing your browser to freeze off and on. Check your internet connection.

The PS3 slim and most of the fat PS3s do not play PS2 games and there is nothing that will change that. If you do not have a PS3 with a Card reader and 4 USB ports you will never be able to play PS2 games on it, except the few PS2 games sold at the Playstation store and already converted into PS3 games
