It's not because they're hurt, a good percentage of the time, but actaully expressing other emotions.
Dogs have various reasons as to why they whine. They may whine to express:
1. Anxiety
2.Pain
3. For attention
4. In excitement (such as chasing squirrels and rabbits).
That depends. If the yorkie is new, it might be scared, or night, put a warm water bottle under wear your yorkie sleeps and put a ticking clock next to the bed.
it depends on what your dog wants if its whining. If your dog sits by you and just stares and whines it probably wants you to pet it.
Pit-bulls are so aggressive because there owners are so aggressive toward them and they are protective of there owner.
All dogs whine.

He probably wants more love and attention.
When your dog whines when you put him straight in his kennel it means that he doesn't want to go in there, that he wants to come out and play or something. But if it's been a while since you've put your dog in his kennel it means he misses you or he needs to go use the bathroom.
Well this goes for all dogs, if you notice any differences at all about the puppy [such as limping, whining constantly, etc] you should take him to the vet.
My dog is an Australian Shepherd. She is 1 year old. She always makes these whining sounds and looks at us like, "Meeerruuuuuuooooeeu." One reason she is doing this is because she notices how us humans communicate and respond to each other, and she wants to tell us something. When she stretches, she says, "Mrouuueeeeee..." The pitch gets high at the end, as it does when she yawns. This means she is tired! When she has an itch, she says, "Eu! Eu! Euuue! Eu!" And she starts scratching. Don't worry if your dog is talking! It's normal.
That really depend on the age. Puppies need about 15 - 20 hours of sleep a day! Older dogs will do it out of exausion while other dogs maybe bored, sleepy, or (when hot) suffering from a form of heat stroke. Some breeds do it because of their "lazy" nature. Some do this when they are sick, but it is usually accompionied by whining and other symptoms. Seeing your dog's vet. would probably be of more help ^^;
It depends. If they are whining because they are lonely then usually yes. But if they're whining because they're sick, or hurt then sometimes. The answer actually depends on the condition the dog is in.
Your dog may be in pain. Whining with diharia may signal a serious health problem. You should take your dog to a vet tomorrow. I didn't do this, instead waiting for it to pass. The dog died 3 days later.
If your dog is whining, then it wants the guinea pigs. Either to chase it or check it out. My dog whines if she's inside and saw a cat. The same effect on your dog with guinea pigs. Hope this helped!
No, it is not. Whining is a verb. The Small child whined. The dog whined.
And the answer is... because the dog that is whining wants to make friends with the other dog and wants to "get a closer look".
by them whining or acting weird at the time
No but the more you let him ride the less he will whine.
Forget the dog. Find a large enough window. Smash it. Get out.
I have no idea, but I think it's because they're in heat. My roommates dog cries through out the night for my female dog especially when shes in heat. She won't let him have it and I won't either. It's because he tries to mark her and I don't like my baby smelling! So that is what I think.
The dog might be howling (as in "howling at the moon") or crying/whining from loneliness.
He probably wants more love and attention.
Chances are, from what you've said, you need to take the dog to a vet immediately. There could be something very serious wrong with it.
