The first and foremost reason is safety. The dangers that any open body of water presents particularly to the young is the most paramount reason. Children are still dying in Australia due to backyard tragedies. If a child can at least acquire the skills needed to get to the edge of the pool then they have a greater chance of survival.
There are so many reasons why you should swim. Swimming gets your body stronger. You will look muscular and defined. There is also a mental state. You become more self confident, and you will have more pride. You can learn to count on other people, and learn what it means to be on a team.
The simple answer is: so you can swim...
Swimming is excellent exercise and is particularly useful if you have bad knees or ankles or find jogging hurts your legs. It is also a good way to pass your time at the beach or the swimming pool where you go to stare at and hopeful meet and socialize with members of the opposite sex. Some people get enjoyment from competitive swim races, in playing Water Polo or in synchronized swimming. Finally, being able to swim could save your life if you are thrown into the water by accident.
You need to have swimming caps, swimming googles, and swimming suits. You also need all parts of your body to swim.
