Why not plug a motorcycle tire?

Answer

I have been riding with a plug for a year now in my rear tire. I patched it using an ordinary tire plug kit from Advance auto. I have not had any problems with it but I rarely go over 60 mph. I am in the market now for a new tire, just for the peace of mind. Every time I ride that plug is always in the back of my mind and makes riding not enjoyable. My opinion is, use a tire plug until you can afford to purchase a new tire and ride slow, short rides. If you go to Dunlop's website they recommend only tire patches that are installed from the inside of the tire by a trained mechanic and then the tire is only rated at 80 mps instead of 130 mph. You just have to ask your self, is your skin worth $250 bucks?
