Why people need a relationship for?

From a biologist's point of view, there are two kinds of creatures: those that operate mostly as solitaries and those that live in groups. We're the second kind. "Love" has a wonderful number of definitions, but one of its effects is to ensure the companionship of others like ourselves. (Or, in some cases, others not so much like ourselves, as in the case of people and dogs.) Simply stated, we're not programmed to be alone. Of course, there are opportunities to interact with others which can hardly be called "love," such as trading goods and services or sharing a purpose, such as classroom learning, watching sporting events and working. Sexual contacts are close, intense, relationships which are often used as substitutes for love (or mistaken for it) and "love" is sometimes urged as an expression of religious devotion. The most significant sort of love is the bond between parent and child, usually mother and infant, but several other combinations can approach the same idea of giving and receiving care and protection. Notably, it is not just people who need love, but any number of higher animals, including birds, dogs and cats, elephants, orcs, great apes and seals. In a nutshell, people need love because we thrive better with it.

psychologically it has to do with the need to feel an attachment and need to be needed by someone else, since birth. this is shown by freudian psychology, especially with his gender ideas, that boys all want to replace their fathers and that's why they become boys. and when girls are born they realize their lack of male genentialia and succumb to mens wishes and domination.

People believe most everything has an opposite. Therefore, when asking "Why do people believe in love," it's like asking "Why do people believe in hate." Those questions are not strange or odd in any way. Love is a chemical, but in the old days, people believed in spirituality, religion, and magic rather than science. Somebody needed an answer for why people were feeling a certain way towards their [lover]. Oxytocin and Serotonin are two chemicals that play a role in the human behaviors and experiences that are associated with love. A lot of people still believe it is "fate" or "destiny" or "true love." There is no such thing as true love. There is such a thing as great hormones though.

I dont think anyone knows i find love more as a closeness to a person rather than the common emotion of love. Its a term of its own for one to decide what love is and its up to you to decide why one would fall in love based on your thoughts and feelings about it

I think the main reason is for happiness and so people dont feel lonely.

Also if there is an attraction then people will want a relationship more.
