To pray is to keep in communication with God for you to know His will for you, and for you to thank Him for His blessings and to inquire if He will grant you what you are in need of.

The secret of prayer is knowing what you have to say, and having the patience to wait for what He has to say to you. Messages can come by a thought in your mind or a strong feeling that you are to do something. However they come they are for you only.

Everyone prays because they want to thank god and it is important because you are trying to express your feelings and you are in a way trying to block noise out of the way and trying to get peace (meditate)

Why prayer is important varies from religion to religion, but essentially, prayer is seen as talking to God. As God tends to be all-powerful, creater of the world, type being, talking to Him is seen as pretty important. People pray to ask God to forgive them, to praise God, to thank God, etc. For people, it makes them feel more connected spiritually, and often makes them feel more at peace in their every day lives.

It's the preferred for of communication.

You pray for what you believe you can change in a life, you can pray for your sanity, for your health, for your parents, grandparents, children, you can also pray to understand The Bible before you open it to any page. You can practically pray for anything even for a homeless person out in the streets, or a pet.

Philippians 4:6,7 tells us not to be anxious over anything...but make your petitions known to God. Also James 4:8 tells us to draw close to God and he will draw close to you. We pray to God about any problems that we have, any needs, and sometimes our wants. If we adhere to his scriptural principles. He will provide all of our needs.

For Christians, prayer is how we communicate with God, and it is worship and praise to the Lord. It also allows us to offer confession of our sins. And it gives us the opportunity to present our requests to God. He cares for us, and wants to commune with us through prayer.

  • "if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land." (2 Chronicles 7:14)
  • "He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint." (Isaiah 40:29-31)
  • "For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are - yet was without sin. Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need." (Hebrews 4:15-16)
Without communication, relationships fall apart. And our relationship with God suffers when we do not communicate with Him.

Prayer services are an ancient and widespread tradition.
Prayer is an important form of communicating with God, and maintaining a relationship with Him; and it is also good for the health of the soul, to which prayer and religious observances are a form of nourishment. It is centrally important to thank God, to recognize that He is the source of prosperity, and to be close to Him.
We can pray privately when necessary, but communal prayer has a much stronger effect. It also strengthens the spiritual level and the bonds within the community.

Prayer is an ancient and widespread tradition, by which the faithful hope to communicate with their god or, in some cases, immortal. Some hope for improved health or for fortuitous events to occur, as sometimes they will. Some pray in the belief that loved ones who have departed this life will be gien comfort in some form of afterlife; they also pray in the hope that they themselves will be rewarded in this afterlife.

Prayer is usually done by people who wish the physical rules of the universe to be changed for their benefit ... recovery from incurable illness, financial success, victory in war, punishment of enemies etc. . If it worked everyone would be healthy, wealthy and wise.

To which god should you pray if Zeus and the Christian God are the same person?

Zeus was certainly a storm god, and one scholarly view is that Yahweh (ultimately the Christian God) was also a storm god. But that does not make them the same storm god or the same person. You should pray, if you pray at all, the whichever god you believe exists. And I think from the question you have doubts whether either god really exists.
