Why shouldn't you immunize your baby? |

[Edit]
The benefits of immunisation far outweigh the disadvantages. Firstly, the reason that some diseases have become more rare is because of good vaccination programmes. It is easy to be blase about the morbidity and mortality that goes with many preventable diseases when you have enjoyed the benefits of other people using vaccines. And a low uptake of vaccines may mean that these diseases, such as polio, return. These diseases have been devastating in the past. Human migration is increasing all the time, so the introduction of a new reservoir for a particular disease may allow the re-emergence of the disease when introduced into a susceptible population. Finally, in my opinion, to allow diseases such as whooping cough to become more prevalent will allow deaths or perhaps side-effects among a sector of the population who contract the disease, such as the newborn baby. We have a responsibility to immunise.
